Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup AP flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg plus 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 oz chocolate chips
  • 2 TBSP unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup confectioners sugar

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Line baking tray with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl whisk flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • In a large bowl combine brown sugar, egg, egg yolk and vanilla. Whisk till combined.
  • In a microwave safe bowl combine the chocolate chips and butter, in 30 second increments heat the butter and chocolate till fully melted and it turns shiny.
  • Add chocolate mix into the large bowl with the brown sugar mixture, use spatula to combine. Add in your flour mix and combine just till incorporated. Let it sit 10 minutes.
  • Place powdered sugar in small bowl. Roll your dough, as best you can into balls about 2 Tablespoons each. Roll each ball in the sugar until coated and then place on baking tray. Leave space between as they will spread.
  • Bake cookies for about 11 minutes. They will start to puff and look cracked around the edges. They will look under done-they are not!
  • Let cookies cool on the baking tray. Dust with more powdered sugar if desired.
