Make Your Own: Fire Cider
February 20 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Cost: $45This folk tradition is a tasty tonic made by infusing apple cider vinegar with fresh herbs and spices to create a slightly hot, antioxidant-rich digestive stimulant. Reputed to be both immune-supporting and stimulating to circulation, a spoonful a day is used to help ward off colds and such in the winter months. The Farmer’s Almanac calls fire cider a “potent tonic” and “the modern reincarnation of a home remedy used for generations to help ward off winter colds, flu cases, and other infirmities. While fire cider is more of a folk remedy, several studies have shown that the tonic helps the body balance blood sugar levels and reduce inflammation. There have also been studies demonstrating cider vinegar’s ability to fight infections.”
Fire Cider takes a few weeks to steep properly, but we will gather the proper ingredients and begin the steep. You will take home your fire cider with instructions on its ageing process. Make your own for cold and flu season or make some as a gift for someone you love.
